Andrew M. Kuchling
Andrew has 11 years of experience as a professional software developer. In that time he's worked for several employers writing web applications, engineering systems, and command-line tools.
He's been participating in the PythonŽ community since 1994, when he picked up the language for a class project and giving a short talk at the Third Python Workshop the following year. Among his contributions to Python:
- Working as a member of the Python development team, helping maintain the CPython interpreter and assessing bugs and patches.
- Contributing to the standard library by writing the initial versions of modules such as zlib, gzip, and _bsddb.
- Writing for the Python documentation set.
- Helping write and administer the Python web site (http://www.python.org).
- Writing a "What's New in Python 2.X" document for every version of Python since 2.0. The latest is for Python 2.5.
- Awarded the Frank Willison Award in 2002 for contributions to the Python community.
Current activities include:
- Serving as a director of the Python Software Foundation beginning in 2004.
- Serving as chair of PyCon 2006 and co-chair of PyCon 2007.
Andrew graduated with a B.Sc. in Computer Science from McGill University in 1995.
